It’s Red, Korean and weighs about 10KG’s! (#MongolRally)
No, it’s not Kim Jong’s ride on lawnmower – it’s our 2005 Hyundai Accent!!
You can see from the marketing shot, this baby was born for desert driving!
Reasons why this car is perfect for the Mongol Rally:
- Weighs about 10kg, so we could probably tow it with a pushbike
- Has 2 doors, which means Al Qaeda militants would have 2 less entry points should we find ourselves under attack
- It’s red, the colour of fast (and danger)
After struggling to get our hands on a car through a private sale, Lockeridge cold called a dealer and found this baby for 1200 quid. It is now registered and sitting safely at a mate’s place in Milbourne (good on you Rod!).
With our Carnet forms off for Iran today ( like a passport for your car), all that is left to organise is our car insurance (can’t seem to find anyone that covers ‘collision with horse’?) and we will be ready to go.
Only 25 days until we roll on Mongolia!

Hi Benny.Maybe it’s something your dad and I could do. LOL. A Bourke to Bourketown Bash or something like it.You could keep an eye on us in a Tiger Moth and Lyle and Alky could follow up with the grog. Good luck John H
HIlarious! Very exciting Rhys, can’t wait to hear about the stories of the various militants and whatnot.
Horses?! They’re the least of your worries Rhys!
